The regions come to the city as these craft beverage masters are joined by other artisans’ producer in the Agora family. The Agora app rewards customers with points which can be redeemed for free beer, just for posting their experiences on their social media pages.
Denham D’Silva, Founder, Agora is looking forward to watching these amazing small producers engage directly with customers at an Adelaide hospitality icon which has been brought back to life under new ownership.
“This is a twist on the tried and tested tap takeover and is a great way to connect drinkers to new beers,” said Denham D’Silva.
“This event will have the only keg outside the Barossa to have Barossa Valley Brewing’s limited Wet Hop NEIPA. This tipple from the Barossa will be joined by great brews Loop Hole and Beer No Evil, and let’s not forget Seppeltsfield gin. The producers tend to relax and share their products with customers, it’s always a fun evening.”
Whilst sitting back to enjoy a craft beer or a gin punters will be encouraged to download and share the experience on the Agora Gourmet App.
Recently, launched, Agora encourages the app user to create a social media post about the product they’re consuming (made by any of a series of small producers listed on the app) and tagged either at one of the participating venues.
The post can either be shared to Facebook through the app, or a link generated by the app can be copied and pasted other platforms such as Instagram. Each post accrues 20 points and 100 points will get you a free beer!
On Friday evening at the Kings Head Hotel, every download of the app live at the venue received a FREE beer as thank you for the support and the first post tagging product and venue is rewarded with another free beer!

Media Notes
Agora Gourmet App The Agora Gourmet App is a radically disruptive platform that supports small businesses and artisanal local producers. The app rewards customers with the accrual of points (right now, with free beer) for social media posts which allows these businesses to grow and support their communities. The Agora mission is to even the playing field and allow artisanal producers the ability to compete with large scale mass producers.
Interviews and Images
Agora Gourmet App and Barossa Valley Brewing, Founder Denham D’Silva is available for interviews upon request as are any of the producers who are a part of the Agora family.
Please feel free to use the images here to help share the Agora story and encourage your community to join us for drinks this Friday at the Kings Head Hotel as we take over the taps.
Guests were greeted upon arrival with a cocktail made from Barossa Valley Brewing’s Pale Ale, Seppeltsfield Road Distiller’s gin and Varci’s tonic syrup. A strange combination you may be thinking, but it was a hit! Guests were seated and Denham D’Silva introduced the Agora app and explained how the night would work. Beer, wine and gin would compete against one another by pairing one of their beverages to a meal and guests were to vote for the drink they believe paired the best. Barossa Valley Brewing, Cooper Burns Wines and Seppeltsfield Road Distillers would be the contenders.
The first course was beautifully presented with Barossa Fine Food’s chorizo and barbequed king prawns, with yellow romesco, endive and chorizo oil. It was a perfect start to the menu and was paired with Rosé and House gin. The vote was extremely close with Rosé winning by 1 vote!
The hero of the next course was South Aussie with Cosi’s slow cooked lamb shoulder with blistered roma tomatoes, celeriac and bagna cauda. The melt in your mouth lamb was paired with Shiraz and Pale Ale, with Shiraz taking the cake for this course.
Woodside cheese wrights was the star for dessert with buffalo curd crème with pickled figs, honeycomb and fig leaf oil. Coffee Stout and Savoury Allsorts Gin were put to the test, with stout winning this round.
All of the drinks paired so well with the dishes, however wine was the overall winner! Each guest was given a block of chocolate from Yours Truly and a can of Barossa Valley Brewing beer personalised with everyone’s name to take home and enjoy. Callum and his team at eleven did fantastic job and we’re already excited for the next event!

The Agora Gourmet App identifies restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes, which stock a range of high-quality products from artisan producers. Customers who visit these venues and use the App to post their experience on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, receive points that can then be redeemed for beer. Because the App identifies the product and the venue, it becomes a helpful promotional tool for both the venue and the producer, allowing them to save on marketing and advertising associated costs on their already tight budgets.
The App was the brainchild of Denham D’Silva, who is also the founder of highly awarded craft brewery, Barossa Valley Brewing. The App’s introduction will be celebrated with a launch event on Thursday 25 March at a new venue in the heart of Adelaide, eleven, co-founded by Callum Hann and Themis Chryssidis.
“Callum is the perfect person to host the event, to introduce and celebrate the Agora Gourmet App. He has roots in the Barossa, I’ve known for years how passionate he is about local producers. I really see this as a way for everyone to support local producers and the small businesses which support them,” highlights Denham.
“The motivation behind developing the Agora Gourmet App was to level the playing field and allow smaller producers the ability to compete with the largest manufacturers. With the Brewery, I learned quickly that we could make one of the best products out there, but without the marketing budget, we’d struggle to compete. This is the same for all craft and artisan producers. I believe this App allows producers to increase their marketing reach without a huge budget.”
Other award-winning producers have partnered with Denham to launch the app, including Seppeltsfield Road Distillers, Cooper Burns Wine, Barossa Fine Foods, Woodside Cheese, Loophole Brewing and more. Denham says South Australia is the perfect place to launch the App.
“We are blessed with so many amazing world-renowned artisan producers. After the challenges felt during 2020, we all know that seeking the cheapest goods, made in some far away factory, is not a sustainable model. We need to support our local producers. If we do that, we support local jobs and our local community. This App allows you to do that…and get great free beer, by doing so. It is the ultimate win-win.”
This event is the first in a series of Agora Battle of the Beverage dinners, in which beer, wine and gin fight for the attendees vote as the best pairing for food made with Agora produce.
The Agora Gourmet app is available now to download on Apple and Android App stores.

Converts customers into passionate ambassadors
This simple platform, allows producers to avoid expensive sales and marketing firms. Instead producers convert their customers into brand ambassadors and reward them when they use their social media pages to promote Agora artisan products and venues.
Convert customers into a sales force
When a business converts a customer's points into product, the app informs the producer to deduct the cost of the product from the business’s next order. This process ensures sales are linked to the customer’s activity, promoting, earning and redeeming. In effect the customer becomes the marketing and sales person. A passionate customer, rewarded with product they love will always be better than a sales person driven by a sales target.
Support businesses which supports Artisans
Vitally this platform supports the businesses that support artisan producers. The app auto tags the business in the post. The customer earns points for promoting the local business as well as the artisanal producer. The app generates sales for the business as well as valuable authentic social media content, all at no cost.
A movement for a change
I’ve been a small producer for 15 years, in a region full of passionate artisans. Artisan products are in higher demand, but the market is supplied by mass producers. The Agora movement levels the playing field so small, local artisan producers can compete. We leverage the loyalty of our customers and the quality of our workmanship. Agora changes the game at a time society needs the game changed.
Cheers,
Why do we need an Agora?
2020 AD most of our produce comes from far away factories. Our relationship with these producers is limited to plastic packages and glossy commercials. The price we pay is an erosion of healthy communities as we lose our artisans. Small producers also provide healthy competition to the large producers that dominate the shelves. In 2020, the problem of depending on mass produced goods made in cheap far away factories has become clear.
How do we create an Agora?
If we support our small producers, we support our local communities. Artisans produce the best quality products, however, they do not have the budget to compete with power of the mass producers, using traditional methods. We have developed a platform which radically reduces the marketing and sales costs for small producers, allowing them to grow their businesses and compete with mega corporations. Even better, the platform supports local businesses which support artisan producers and rewards customers who purchase artisan goods.
